R. RENÉ ALTHEIMER

R. René Altheimer began her career in funeral service education at Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in October 2012, joining the admissions team. With over 25 years of executive administrative experience in the private sector, including a significant tenure at a multi-million-dollar ethnic hair care company in Arkansas, René brings a wealth of organizational expertise to her role. She also has over 10 years of experience in state government, further enriching her skills and background.

In 2015, René assumed the role of Admissions Specialist and she became the Admissions Counselor in 2021. In April 2024, she was appointed College Registrar, where she plays a key role in guiding students through their educational journey in funeral service, from enrollment to graduation and licensure. René also serves as the VA Representative and Title IX Coordinator for Commonwealth Institute, advocating for students and ensuring a supportive and compliant learning environment. An active member of the funeral service community, René regularly represents Commonwealth Institute at various local and national events. She participates in career days, trade shows, and conventions, including the NFDA International Conference, the NFDMA Annual Convention and the TFDA Annual Convention, to promote the institute’s programs and foster relationships within the industry.

Outside of work, René enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and traveling, finding joy in both adventure and making lasting memories with her loved ones.
