This course introduces the student to the process of chemically treating human remains to reduce the presence and growth of microorganisms, to temporarily inhibit organic decomposition, and to restore an acceptable physical appearance. Topics include foundational terminology, governmental regulations, ethics, death and the human body, instrumentation, embalming analysis, basic chemistry, and embalming chemistry/chemicals.
